JournPad ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at journpad.com (the "Site") and the JournPad mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Site and the App.

Information we collect

From the Site

• Waitlist information: email address you submit on the Site.
• Log data: standard server logs from our hosting providers (e.g., IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and reliability.
• Cookies/analytics: we currently do not use analytics or advertising cookies on the Site.

From the App

• Audio recordings and temporary speech-processing data used to generate short entry details such as titles and summaries. Temporary processing data is discarded after those details are created.
• Biometric authentication (Face ID or device biometrics) to help secure app re-entry on supported devices when you enable it.
• Local app data and device-local audio cache used to support playback on the device where an entry was recorded.
• Background processing to complete uploads or entry-processing tasks you start.
• Remote account storage for saved entries and media so the same signed-in user can access them across supported devices.

How we use information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and App.
• Send waitlist or service-related communications.
• Process voice entries to generate review details such as titles, summaries, categories, and follow-up prompts.
• Secure the App with device biometrics where available.
• Make remotely stored entries and media available to the same signed-in account across supported devices.

Legal bases

Where applicable, we process information based on your consent (e.g., microphone access, biometric access, waitlist sign-up), performance of a contract (providing the App), and our legitimate interests (app security, preventing abuse).

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers who help us run the Site and App (for example, waitlist email storage). These providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.

For the Site waitlist, we use a managed database service to store your email securely. Hosting providers may process log data to keep the service reliable and secure.

Data retention

• Waitlist emails are retained until you unsubscribe or we no longer need them to contact you about the launch.
• Saved entries and media are remotely stored with your account until you delete them or delete your account. Audio may also remain in the app-managed local cache on the original recording device until you clear local media.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time using the instructions in the message.
• You can manage device permissions such as microphone and biometrics in your device settings.
• You can delete entries within the App and, if applicable, request deletion of your synced account data.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard data both in transit and at rest.

Children’s privacy

The App and Site are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.

International transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable law.
