JournPad ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at journpad.com (the "Site") and the JournPad mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Site and the App.

Information we collect

From the Site

• Waitlist information: email address you submit on the Site.
• Log data: standard server logs from our hosting providers (e.g., IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and reliability.
• Cookies/analytics: we currently do not use analytics or advertising cookies on the Site.

From the App

• Audio recordings and transcriptions (microphone access) to enable journaling and AI transcription.
• Camera and photos if you attach images or record video entries.
• Biometric authentication (Face ID or device biometrics) to help secure access to your content on your device.
• Local data storage (e.g., secure storage and local database) to store your entries on your device.
• Background processing to complete uploads, transcription, or tasks you start.
• Optional cloud sync to keep your entries available across devices if you create an account and enable sync.

How we use information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and App.
• Send waitlist or service-related communications.
• Enable features like transcription, categorization, and search.
• Secure the App with device biometrics where available.
• Sync your content across devices if you choose to enable sync.

Legal bases

Where applicable, we process information based on your consent (e.g., microphone/camera access, waitlist sign-up), performance of a contract (providing the App), and our legitimate interests (app security, preventing abuse).

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers who help us run the Site and App (for example, waitlist email storage). These providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.

For the Site waitlist, we use a managed database service to store your email securely. Hosting providers may process log data to keep the service reliable and secure.

Data retention

• Waitlist emails are retained until you unsubscribe or we no longer need them to contact you about the launch.
• App content is stored on your device and, if you enable sync, in your account until you delete it or delete your account.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time using the instructions in the message.
• You can manage device permissions (microphone, camera, biometrics) in your device settings.
• You can delete entries within the App and, if applicable, request deletion of your synced account data.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard data both in transit and at rest.

Children’s privacy

The App and Site are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.

International transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable law.
